6/5/09 Update

Sorry I haven't been able to update in a while. Here goes...

Steve is very close to walking in a walker by himself. His physical therapist challenges him every day and thinks about it at night so she can challenge him each time she sees him. He only has 3 more weeks of PT so hopefully he'll get a lot out of it.

Lately he has been doing better. He is sitting up on the bed by himself now and has gotten himself from his wheel chair to the recliner by himself as well. So Awesome!!

He is in limbo land regarding his power chair. Insurance issues. But hopefully they will have it in a month or less. Unfortunately, mom found out that in order to take the power chair out of the house - to travel or anything - she will have to get a new car. They can not get the right hitch attachment on her car. I am not sure what they will do. Please pray for some financial help for them on this...that is a huge expense, but the power chair would really give Steve some freedom that he doesn't have right now.

Their 25th wedding anniversary is this Tuesday, June 9th. Please wish them a happy day!!

Update from Steve!!

I don't update very often anymore and I feel bad about it. I just don't know what to say most of the time. Steve is still doing physical therapy when he can, but his visits are out of pocket now, so they don't go as often. They are working on getting him a power wheel chair so he can get around better on his own, so that will be great. He is still improving all the time and we are very glad about that.

Last night Steve sent out an email. Many of you probably got it, but for those of you not on his distribution list, I wanted to share it with you. I will try to do that any time he emails going forward.

Hey Everybody. I am doing fine. I talk like I am am one year old. Yet I have a brain like a rocket scientist. Hard to believe that i have been home since September. I still have physical therapy 3 days a week and really need it more than that. Of course my knees could not take it everyday.My right knee stills kills as it did before the strokes.I weight 222 lbs. now which does help my knee some.

I am just trying to get better and play the cards I have been dealt. Not easy! I hope to see you soon!

Short update and Happy Birthday...

Not much to update. Bella and Steve are trying to come up with affordable options for doing Steve's physical therapy at home. They only have so many visits left through insurance for 2009, then they have to pay about $150 per visit to continue. Unfortunately that isn't possible for them for any amount of time. If you have any ideas to help them, please let them know!

This Thursday is Steve's Birthday. Happy Early Birthday Steve!!!

Steve is still progressing slowly. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

Happy New Year!! Pictures & Video...

Can you believe it's 2009 already?? Well, this year we have big plans for Steve Adkins! Please continue praying for his recovery...let's hope it starts going really fast now!

Also - Steve is struggling with this so much lately. He is upset by his situation - as you could imagine. Please pray that he keeps pushing through and getting better.

Here are the videos. Can you believe how well he is doing. Pay close attention to his right side...it was the side that was completely paralyzed. He still has a ways to go until he is better, but this is GREAT!
